Seven confirmed sea routes from Split, ranked by a combination of consistency, visual quality, and suitability for different group types. Rankings are based on running all seven routes across multiple seasons.

1. Blue Lagoon and Šolta (half day, 4-5 hours)

The most-booked route for a reason. The Blue Lagoon consistently delivers what it shows in photos, turquoise water over white sand in a sheltered bay. The addition of a Šolta anchorage adds variety without extending the day beyond what families and first-time boat guests can comfortably manage.

Best for: families with children, first boat day, guests who want a reliable half-day

Limitation: the lagoon fills with boats in peak season from 10:00 onwards. The early-morning departure advantage is real.

2. Blue Cave, Vis, and Hvar (full day, 8-9 hours)

The most ambitious single-day route on the list. The Blue Cave requires a genuine early departure (06:00 to 06:30 from Split), a 2.5-hour crossing, and the willingness to accept that the cave may be closed for weather. When it works (cave entry, Komiža lunch, Hvar afternoon), it is the best Adriatic day trip available from Split.

Best for: experienced boat guests, guests on repeat visits who have done the standard routes, photography-focused guests

Limitation: weather dependency on the cave. The early start excludes guests who want a relaxed morning.

3. Brač, Šolta, Tunnels, and Hidden Bays (full day, 7-8 hours)

Less well-known than Hvar-route options but arguably better for pure swimming and exploration. The route covers the southern Šolta coast (the cave and tunnel section northeast of Nečujam) and the north Brač coast, accessing bays that the commercial tour boats rarely reach.

Best for: repeat visitors, guests who want more seclusion than the Blue Lagoon route provides

4. Hvar and Šolta (full day, 6-7 hours)

The standard mid-length route. Hvar town stop gives the old town architecture, the Pakleni Islands anchorage gives the swimming, and the Šolta afternoon stop (Stomorska or Stračinska) gives seclusion at the end of the day.

Best for: couples, small groups, guests who want to combine town and sea

5. Šolta Hidden Bays (full day, 5-6 hours)

The quietest route on the list. Šolta's northern bays (Stračinska, Donja Krušica, the area around Nečujam) are less visited than the Blue Lagoon and consistently have fewer boats in mid-season. The route has no famous name-brand destination, which means the guests it suits are those who actively want to avoid crowds.

Best for: guests seeking seclusion, repeat visitors who have done the standard routes

6. Afternoon Escape: Underwater Museum and Blue Lagoon (3-4 hours)

A shorter route that makes efficient use of an afternoon starting from 14:00 or 15:00 when the Blue Lagoon is beginning to thin out. The Prud underwater museum (archaeological site near Čiovo) is a snorkelling stop with visible Roman remains at 2-5m depth, genuinely unusual.

Best for: guests with limited time, guests who want to combine a morning activity with a boat afternoon

7. Trogir Morning Swim (4 hours from Trogir ACI Marina)

Departure from Trogir rather than Split puts the boat 25 km closer to the Blue Lagoon. The route reaches the lagoon by 08:00 when departing Trogir at 07:30, ideal for guests staying in or near Trogir, or for yacht guests berthed at the Trogir marina who want a shorter excursion before their afternoon sail.

Best for: Trogir-based guests, yacht guests at ACI Marina Trogir
